"Recovery doesn't begin with a dramatic change — it begins the moment someone feels safe enough to open the door."
About Dr. Aladag
Dr. Belis Aladag is a dual board-certified addiction medicine and family medicine physician, a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the Co-Founder and Physician Partner of H.A.R.T. Recovery Care. With over 15 years of clinical leadership across some of the most rigorous healthcare environments in the country — from Kaiser Permanente's integrated care system in Los Angeles and Sacramento to UCLA's academic medicine network to multi-state telemedicine programs — she brings a depth of expertise that is rare in any setting, let alone the in-home care space.
Dr. Aladag earned her MD from Ross University School of Medicine, graduating with honors, and completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin. She holds a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health — a credential that shapes how she thinks about addiction not just as an individual clinical challenge, but as a community health crisis requiring systemic, accessible solutions. Her Bachelor of Arts in Health & Society, with minors in Biology and Spanish, was completed with distinction at the University of Rochester.
Her career has taken her from directing a federally qualified opioid treatment program in Wisconsin and a residency affiliate appointment at Johns Hopkins, to serving as a Partner Physician in Kaiser Permanente's Department of Addiction Medicine in Los Angeles — where she co-authored regional alcohol use disorder treatment guidelines adopted across the entire Southern California system, served on Quality Management and Clinical Governance boards, and directed addiction medicine education for family medicine residents. She later transitioned to Kaiser Permanente Sacramento, where she continued providing outpatient addiction care and consultation to hospitalists and emergency departments.
Dr. Aladag has directed medical operations for withdrawal management, residential treatment, and telemedicine addiction programs simultaneously — overseeing care across multiple levels, from level 3.2 detox to level 3.7 medically managed withdrawal to 3.5 residential recovery — while maintaining voluntary faculty appointments at the University of Michigan School of Medicine and the USC Keck School of Medicine. She has served as a visiting scholar at the National Academy of Sciences, an ad hoc reviewer for the American Journal of Public Health, and a contributor to a landmark IOM publication on cardiovascular disease prevention in developing countries.
She co-founded H.A.R.T. Recovery Care out of a conviction that evidence-based addiction medicine should be available to people in the place they feel safest: home. The H.A.R.T. Method — the clinical framework she helped build — reflects her belief that care should be structured and rigorous, yet deeply warm and human. She is recognized as a Top Doctor by Los Angeles, Sacramento, and California magazines, and is fluent in English, Turkish, and Spanish.
